The Ofek Center was established with the aim of providing a highly professional and specialized psychological and psychiatric treatment, in both individual and group format.
The center was founded in 2006 by Dr. Yifat Cohen, a child and adolescent psychiatrist, and is directed by her. Our staff includes mainly clinical psychologists and clinical social workers. While we adhere to an eclectic approach to therapy, all of our staff specialize in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) – a unique, specialized therapeutic approach for individuals suffering from emotional dysregulation and their families.
The center directors have occupied a range of therapeutic, teaching, and managerial positions in public mental health care. With their background in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and after years of experience in both the public and private sectors, Dr. Cohen and Dr. Presler recognized the need for more specialized and effective therapeutic perspectives. They opted to treat individuals with complex, hard-to-treat personality disorders, as few places offer effective and professional treatment for such patients.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is a systematic, integrative, well-researched, and evidence-based treatment. It is designed to treat a host of psychological and psychiatric disorders, but proves especially effective in treating emotional dysregulation disorders in adolescents and young adults.
Our professional staff have chosen to work together as part of a shared humanistic therapeutic philosophy. The therapists are fully invested and dedicated to patients and their families, they put much efforts to implement this relatively novel therapeutic approach and are committed to integrated teamwork that involves counseling and guidance as a crucial part of the treatment.
We also provide DBT training programs for professionals in the field all over the country.
